Letting Go with Purpose | Cheshire Spiritual Readings
Every New Year asks the same question — most people just avoid answering it:
What are you done carrying?
Old roles. Old obligations. Old emotional weight. The New Year exposes these quietly, through fatigue, irritation, or a sense that something no longer fits.
In tarot, endings are not failures. They’re closures. Cards associated with endings like the Death Card or the 10 of Spades, appear most often at the start of the year — because the future cannot unfold while the past is clutched tightly.
I was once sitting in a cafe in Wales shuffling my cards whilst watching the sea crash onto the shore. A waitress came over and we began chatting about the tarot. She then told me that for the last 3 readings she had been on, the Death card kept appearing.
I offered her the cards and asked her to shuffle them and then cut them wherever she liked. Guess what? Yes, she got the Death card. I told her there was something she needed to let go of and I also said that one particular thing, kept going wrong because she hadn't addressed it.
She looked at me sheepishly and then I said to her, it's the hurt from a previous relationship isn't it? And, I said, pointing to the guy behind the counter, that's your 2nd or 3rd relationship that you thought would last, since your marriage break-up.
She asked me how I knew. I went on to tell her that the cracks were appearing in this relationship already. I told her the issue was not with the men she was falling for necessarily, but with her own trapped feelings of hurt. She needed to forgive this spiteful ex - not for his sake - but for hers.
Palmistry shows this too. When someone is ready to release something, the hands soften. Resistance gives way to readiness — even if the mind hasn’t caught up yet.
Letting go doesn’t require drama. It requires honesty.
The New Year supports those willing to acknowledge what’s complete.
Best wishes always,
Rob
